The ladies at rest on their day off.
What do you do for self care?
What can you learn from a horse when it comes to taking care of your needs?
I have learned these valuable self care skills:
* Horses remain in the moment
* Horses breathe deeply and exhale thoroughly
* They stretch after resting
* Horses are often aware of what they are eating, separating particles with their lips
* Horses enjoy their food, especially their treats
* Horses enjoy play with their friends
* Horses often have friends with other species, treating them all equally
* Horses take time out to touch one another in introductions
* Horses will share their breath, even with a stranger, in greetings
* Horses are often interested in meeting another horse and visiting with friends
* Horses will enjoy a roll in dirt, mud, sand, shavings, snow, or any surface that supports a good itching
* Horses often enjoy the company of others
* Horses know when one is not well and will comfort
I have learned all of these self care skills today while watching the Ladies in this herd take care of their needs on their day off.
The Gentlemen were interested in a day of play while the Ladies were interested in rest.
